Willem Jan Hoogland, has more than 21 years practical experience in (inter)national tax planning and trust related works. He currently provides (inter)national tax advice & beneficial tax structures to private & corporate clients, including property related transactions. He studied fiscal law at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and did some additional (postgraduate) LL.M tax law degrees at the University of London in the UK and Queens University in Canada. More recent, he obtained an LL.B degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong.
He started his career at the largest Dutch law firm in the Netherlands as a tax adviser and dealt with financial transactions, acquisitions and debt restructurings and gained experience with advance tax rulings, transfer pricing, stock lending, repo-transactions, bond issues and hybrid loans. Thereafter he continued his career shortly with a tax firm in Hong Kong, until he decided to set up HKWJ Tax Law & Partners Limited.
Willem Jan Hoogland is an executive member of the International Fiscal Association branch in Hong Kong, a frequent visitor of the annual International Fiscal Association congress meetings, a current member of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong, a current member of the tax committees for both the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, a former Chairman of the Dutch Society of Hong Kong, former member of the Dutch Chartered Institute of Tax advisers and a frequent writer for the fiscal magazine Tax Notes International.
