HKWJ Group Champions Diversity with Sponsorship of Dutch Dragon Boat Teams at the Asia Gay Games

HKWJ Group proudly steps up to co-sponsor the ‘Dutch Dragons’ Dragon Boating Team at the upcoming Asia Gay Games. This sponsorship underscores a commitment to inclusivity, acceptance and cultural exchange as part of our ESG policy.

The ‘Dutch Dragons’ team is organised by the Netherlands Consulate General in Hong Kong & Macau, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, and the Dutch Society of Hong Kong, and are poised to make a significant splash at this unique event. “The Gay Games symbolise unity, diversity, and acceptance,” said Willem Jan Hoogland, Founder of the HKWJ Group. “We’re honoured to support the Dutch Dragons and the larger mission of the Games.”

Fans and participants of Dragon Boating can look forward to the warm-up races on Sunday, 5th of November, with the official races unfolding on Monday, 6th of November. With over forty international teams, including categories for men, women, mixed, and over 60, this promises to be a spectacle that celebrates diversity and skill.

The Gay Games were established first in San Francisco in 1982, and have since burgeoned into the world’s largest inclusive sports, arts & culture event. The Asian debut is particularly significant, given the continent’s struggle with LGBTQ+ acceptance, even with its 221 million LGBTQ+ residents.

Taking place in Hong Kong from 3-11 November, the Asia Gay Games is a beacon of diversity and inclusion welcoming participants (18+) from all walks of life. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a newbie, irrespective of your sexual orientation, gender identity, or ethnicity, the Games amplify a resounding message: Games for All.
